Hermes Audio
- Hermes only talks to your other Macs, over your local network or directly over Wi-Fi to Macs nearby. It doesn’t connect to the internet.
- Until you set a link code, Hermes doesn’t use the network, apart from looking for nearby Macs while the Link Macs window is open.
- With a link code set, Hermes shows up on your network under a random name that changes each time it opens, not your Mac’s name. Other devices nearby can see that a Mac running Hermes is there, but not which Mac it is.
- Linked Macs tell each other their names and the Bluetooth addresses of the headphones connected to them. This goes over an encrypted connection.
- Your link code and settings are saved on your Mac.
Notifications are shown by macOS on your Mac and aren’t sent anywhere else.
This website
This site doesn’t use cookies or analytics. Three outside services are involved in loading it:
- Netlify hosts the site, so it sees your IP address and browser details when you visit. Netlify’s privacy policy
- Adobe Fonts and Google Fonts supply the fonts. Your browser downloads them directly, so they see your IP address too. Adobe also records which fonts were loaded on which page, because its font licences are based on that. Adobe says it doesn’t set cookies or keep your IP address.
